Excuse me, Scintilla? This is a bit out of the blue and I don't believe we've met, but Takame mentioned you're a blacksmith and I'm in need of those particular services right now.
Wow, that is incredibly lucky... Anyway! Because of some recent events, I don't really have a sword anymore, and I'd feel better having a replacement. I can come by to talk specifics?
This is unfortunately not for business, but rather an inquiry. [Oh boy.]
My name is Hinoki Ayato. As I want to be transparent from the start, I am a member of the Black Order. Recently, we have been tasked with recruitment for certain individuals of interest- you were one of them, among others.
[A beat, and he clarifies.]
Put simply: Would you wish to join the Black Order?
[Surprisingly, his tone really isn't forceful, it's more or less with anything but a desire to convince Scintilla to join. It becomes even more clear that this isn't really something he's fond of.]
Please understand that this is simply me following protocol, nothing more. Whatever your decision, no offense will be taken. [He doesn't want to force anyone into TBO, it sucks here.]
...This got somethin' t' do with the fella what thinks I don't see him cross the road hidin' behind the Void Denny's?
[Said in a tone of definite bemusement more than annoyance, but the ultimate answer was fairly obvious all the same.]
You seem a good sort, mate. An' I might not be the most scholarly sort, but I can make a good few guesses what 'certain individuals' means. Ain't none of us gonna be interested, and I can wager a couple won't be as nice 'bout it as me.
I appreciate your understanding, and truthfully? This is mostly to only follow orders, and leave it as such.
[He hesitates at that, then reconsiders his words.] There is only so much I can say because of the Order, but I will mention this- the team here is well aware that none of this will be taken well, or at all. We can only do so much in the face of what we've been ordered to do.
[If they actually had a choice, no one would ask any of the WoLs anything at all.
Though he does pause, at that.]
In terms of business, what would you say is your strongest suit? [Ah, wait, to clarify:] I mean this as my own general question, not anything involving the Order.
[ it's easy enough to show up, unannounced at Scintilla's forge. He assumed, after finding out where it was located, that it was a place of business, after all.
He'll even knock a little, against the doorframe after entering the ... guild, his eyes lifting up to quietly take in the strangeness of the place--as if it were lifted from some fantasy world into this one. It was odd, but. ...Sort of fantastic. ]
--Sorry to bother.
I'm looking to get a couple of daggers fixed up, if you have time.
[ he isn't the first of the black order approaching her for their 'job', but. ...truth be told, Jinwoo has absolutely no intentions of giving her the 'join us' speech. Like the other guardian has, already. ]
[She looked up from the box of scrap metals she was currently shelving, pulling off a pair of gloves and walking over with a curious flick of her tail.]
[ he DOES admittedly take a moment to look the other over--noting the ears, the tail. Much like Rose. ...Warriors of Light all seemed to have features like this, from what he saw. It reminded him of some of his favorite high fantasy games...
He shakes his head, losing the thought for a moment as he gives a sort of bow of his head. ]
I saw you advertise this place on the app a while back, but have been a little too busy to drop in.
[ but, to answer her question quickly, and being pretty awkward about small talk, he'll quickly pull a pair of daggers--one a more typical looking blade with a bronze handle, the other being nearly pure white, with a soft, glowing aura to it. ]
--Before you start on them, I'll warn you that they're both lightly enchanted. The white one will just make you feel weightless so it's fine. But the other is made from a venomous snake's fang and well. Just.
Hm...dealt with enchanted before, aught not to be any problem. [She took a pair of thick gloves off her belt, pulling them on to clawed hands before carefully picking up both daggers to examine them.]
Proper good craftsmanship on these, even without th' augmentation. Mind if I ask how y' came by 'em?
I trust you. This place is amazing, can I say? It looks like something pulled out of a dream.
[ not to be rude--the awe in his voice is so very real. His eyes darting around to take in every inch of it. ...Right she'd asked a question. A hand moves up to rub the back of his head. ]
I don't mind you asking. But you might not be satisfied with the answer. One appeared in my front door, stabbed through it. The other--a skeleton showed up while I was on vacation and handed it to me.
...I think they belonged to me in a past life and they made their way back to me.
[Right, he always forgets Scintilla prefers voice messaging. He'll switch over as well.]
Some time shortly after I arrived, my old officer's armor showed up as well - the set I thought had been confiscated for good back in Ala Mhigo. Unfortunately, as you're probably aware, Garlean officers' armor is insulated against aether, which makes the wearer more resistant to incoming magic at the cost of preventing them from effective spellcasting. Obviously that's a tradeoff that pureblood Garleans don't need to concern themselves with.
...Except here, apparently, where being the only race on Etheirys wholly incapable of spellcasting is no object to whatever properties of the world keep handing out new powers. I'm interested in having a set of armor that would allow me to use magic and my Geo Vision, preferably patterned on the same armor I'm already accustomed to fighting in.
Hm...right, right, I remember hearin' as much a time or two 'bout the empire's equipment. Sensible enough for its purposes, but I can see where that's somethin' of a problem here n' now.
[She hummed thoughtfully, a sound punctuated by the quiet jingle of her earrings as her ears pinned back in thought; already planning out designs in her head.]
Armor's more Blade's thing, but...why not, I've seen a hell of a lot more Garlean-styled armor than he has. Oughta be no problem at all.
