Excuse me, Scintilla? This is a bit out of the blue and I don't believe we've met, but Takame mentioned you're a blacksmith and I'm in need of those particular services right now.
Wow, that is incredibly lucky... Anyway! Because of some recent events, I don't really have a sword anymore, and I'd feel better having a replacement. I can come by to talk specifics?
Over here, mate. [A woman with gold tattoos running along heavily muscled arms set down a box full of scrap metal, clearly in the process of moving around materials and preparing to get the place ready to function.]
Scintilla Caminus, at your service. Sorry, didn't catch your name.
[He opens his bag to pull out a sketchbook, flipping to a page with a sketch of his previous sword--one with a dual-edged blade.]
My previous sword was a one-handed one that looked more or less like this. I'd like the same general shape, at least, but I haven't put much thought into the details beyond that... To be honest, the previous one came into my possession pretty unexpectedly in the first place and I don't know much about this sort of thing anyway, so I don't really know what's feasible.
Hey, this's pretty good, actually. Got a pretty nice talent there yourself. [She craned her neck for a better look, tilting her head with a look of deep thought.]
Aye, I've made plenty like that in my time. Ain't too difficult at all, an' I bet I can make it nice n' lightweight for a kid 'bout your size. [...scintilla you are 5'3"] Details're important, though--ain't the critical thing 'bout a sword, no, but it's important to have somethin' you know's yours on sight.
Pommel's a good place for a lil' style. Doesn't risk gettin' in the way like a detailed guard might. So then it comes down t'what you like--the kind've design that'll make you feel like th' sword's reflectin' its owner.
Hm...that's the thing what folks do to proper decorate with detail a chisel ain't able t' engrave, ain't it? Never tried, but if it's somethin' can be done to a blade, bet I can do it with a bit 'f practice.
Oh, engraving hadn't even occurred to me... [He transfers his sketchbook to one hand to dig out a pencil. He flips to the back of the page of his sketch and starts a new sketch, this time of a strawberry plant, with both flowers and berries. The design only takes up a quarter of the blade.] A design like this maybe...?
[She hummed thoughtfully, carefully tracing a clawed finger along the design.]
Can prob'ly even make the design a touch bigger'n this if you like. Be a bit harder to clean, but it shouldn' put the blade's integrity at risk or nothin.
That ought to be easy 'nough, aye. Made plenty of ornate blades that're well functional enough. Might take a try or two t' get, but you can bet it'll get done right.
Don't get me wrong, I don't often work for free. But if it's somethin' you need to' protect yourself an' other folks, we can work out a price you're able t' pay for it.
I've been paid pretty well for my work for the Order, so I don't mind paying.
[Fugo hated the work, but at least it was lucrative as all hell, even for someone on the lower end.
... Plus, he still has his hoard of shit he stole out of the Zodiac Palace after everyone else got That Damned Peach out of there.]
... I do need it a bit more now than I would've used to, though. Getting out of the Order came with a hell of a price.
[The number he writes down and shows to Scintilla does overshoot a fair bit--in all fairness, he did admit he doesn't know a lot about this sort of thing.]
That's about the upper limit of what I'd feel comfortable spending.
[She's a thief but she has standards. Like trying real hard not to laugh, at the moment.]
I ain't that expensive, you ain't gotta worry. 'Specially where you've got proper need of it and it ain't gonna gather dust on some rich bastard's wall. Them I'd overcharge where I can get away with it, but you can cut that number down a bit and we ain't gonna have a problem.
You're a nice kid, so I'll help you out a little--never start with your upper limit. It's a right tough skill to learn, but y' have to find the spot between 'so low it's insultin'' and 'here's my entire wallet, mate'. Takes practice n' research, so don't feel too bad 'bout it.

[And true to his word, he doesn't take long to show up.]
Ah, hello?

Patrizio Fugo, good to meet you.

He hums thoughtfully.]
I don't think I'd want a super elaborate guard or anything on it... an ornate pommel might be cool, though.

... Ah, that gives me another idea, actually... acid etching's a thing you can do to blades, right?

[Adjusting the design in the sketch then...]
A bit of extra work to clean it doesn't bother me any.

[He laughs a little and rubs the back of his neck, more than a little sheepish.]
I really wasn't sure what'd be fair, to tell you the truth.
[The next number he writes down is, at least, definitely more reasonable.]

Thank you, though, I'll work on that.
